Asking whether the Catholic Church considers masturbation a sin and whether God considers masturbation a sin are two different things.
The Catholic Church, like all religions, is something invented by man in trying to interperet the will of God and establish a set of rules by which to live and serve God. God did not create the church, and he did not write the bible, these were things done by men to the best of their ablilty and interpretation, but as we know, all men make mistakes and as in all the religions there are aspects which might have made a lot of sense when they were created, but which can be seen to be errors in today's world. This applies to all religions and is not a specific criticism of the Catholic Church. According to the Catholic Church masturbation is a sin. I disagree with their interpretation of Gods will in this case, but that is just me.
The only way to know the will of God is to recieve this information from God directly. Historically, prayer and meditation are the typical ways to communicate with God. Insight and awareness may occur of their own accord too, which is typically referred to as the Grace of God. These are the ways to know God's will. Other information you recieve from the outside are second hand interpretations by man.

Is making yourself feel good without involving anyone else a sin?
I don't think so.
I've read the bible from stem to stern and have not seen a single phrase that can definitely be attributed to masturbation being mentioned, one way or another.
As far as the Catholic Church, remember, Church fathers often have decried many things as being OK (burning Jews and Heretics) that were not, and others as not being OK that are natural and fine (masturbation).

Well, according to the laws of the church or Bible, yes. But the Bible was written thousands of years ago. And the church has double standards. They don't think it's a big deal molesting boys, but they tell us we shouldn't masturbate.
So, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I am neutral about masturbation. It's neither good nor bad.
At the end of the day, it's your decision.

And I think Masturbation is an excellent way to get in touch with what works for you, and what does not.
If it was really crucial it would have been listed in the ten commandments - and it is not.
It is a private activity. No one else's business but your own business. Raising it with your celibate Priest may only embarass him.
Masturbation for pleasure is safe, reliable, pleasurable and private. I would rather a daughter get to know her own body like
this than allowing inept teen boys to 'experiment' with her.

If you really wanted to go into what is sin then there could be grounds that if someone kept idolising someone and constantly masturbating about them and looking at them and trying to get a picture of them then that would be stalking and a sin. But I would suggest having pleasure or relief about numerous celebs, bfs,gfs or partners would be fine.
However, I did read somewhere that certain religions circumcised boys years ago to make masturbating without foreskins difficult. All myth probably though!

However, I don't think it's actually a sin. In fact, I think this is a much better option than going out too young and having sex and accidentally getting pregnant or an STD.

I don't remember Jesus mentioning it in the Bible, and it's not in the ten commandments.
I know I'm digressing but ant to clarify something...
I have an open mind and would never condemn someone for being gay... by the way a lot of people say it's a sin because it's in the Bible, but I don't think Jesus directly mentioned it (I could be wrong).
I don't think we can have rules for everything, that's why God gave humans the ability to think or reason. Things like adultery and using drugs are sinful because... think of the damage they cause, terrible diseases and destroying families. What are the consequences of masturbation? You won't get pregnant or contract an STD. I think it gets to be a sin only if it starts to interfere with your life.

something like that but you should ask a priest but also you should know 100% of boys masturbate and something like 80% of girls do too. so you are not alone.

If your a bit worried about what they might think, you can say that you were wondering as you were unsure and had come across some literature that had conflicting information. I hope this helps, good luck.

In my opinion, it's very normal to masturbate and I don't think God would consider something that is human nature to be sinful. And I also like to think of masturbation as a way to relieve one's self to avoid a larger sin, like having premarital sex or adultery. BTW, I have nothing against those who do these "larger sins". It's just that these two are directly considered as sinful in Catholic terms. So I guess it's okay. Besides, I think almost everybody does it so we're not much different from others.
