I don't know the curcumstances but I would say yes. Normally you would treat others as you would expect to be treated by them but there becomes a point where enough is enough. Don't let people walk all over you. Put your foot down.

That is a very good question.
This will ultimately come down to the type of person you are. If you wish to help people then you could do so whole heartedly - regardless of the consequences because that is you belief, or you could reasonabley help people but of course walk away when you find youself unhappy or attacked. Or finally you could look to help people when you can, but walk away when it becomes difficult.
I personally think of myself as the last type. The fact that you have questioned should you put up with the abuse seems to show you are not the first type. You do want to help people but not at the expense of your own happiness.
So since you've identified that you are not treated faily and you are abused then (its reasonable to say you are unhappy) then you should walk away.
Just remember you cannot save everyone and you should not have to. People will need to get hurt, suffer and feel the pain for themselves or they will not develop.
Let it go and remember to look after yourself.
