i have a tendency to walk through town. many people that know me find this strange because no one else does this activity. also i can not drive simply for the reason that i am not very good at it and would most likely be dead if i atemtet to do so. once i finish my last year of high school coming up i do plane to go to collage. the one i will most likely attend is about 50 miles away from where i live. if i where to stay on campus there would really be no need for me to drive would there? plus i just love to Walk. but for some reason my friends find it strange that i do. i cant say i am in better shape for i still tend to eat more then i walk not that i am fat or anything. getting back down to what intend to ask. is it strange to Walk every where when no one else does? ps i don't live in a city.

what you people have been saying so far is what i have been saying to every one else around me but for some reason my parents and especially my sister just want lessen. i know i am going to be forced to get a drivers license god forbid. but once i move away i will never use it. driving scares me. Walking is much more peaceful. i do not mind walking through town. and if it truly is necessary for me to go out of town im sure i can find some to wait on me for a day.

hannah76 agony auntThere is nothing wrong with walking. I love it. Don't worry what others think. Buy a small pedometer which counts your steps as you walk and you could always tell people you do it for health and fitness if it makes you feel better.

If you live on campus at college, you would not be out of place walking everywhere.

Who cares if people think its strange that you walk through town to get where you need to be? I completely agree with Caring Guy!

I basically walk everyone - and I even have a driving license. Who cares what other people think? You're probably healthier than them, and you probably have a better time. I tend to find driving stressful because of traffic jams and all that. I don't think there's anything strange about walking anywhere, especially since man has done it since the dawn of time. Dont' worry about anyone else.

Back in the day before we had cars and public transport, the average person used to walk pretty much everywhere. It might've taken them forever to get from A to B, but necessity dictated that they used the legs God gave them! We'd do well to remember that; little children love to walk, it's only as we get older that we grow lazy and start to put convenience first more often than not. There's nothing wrong at all with what you're doing. There are so many health benefits associated with walking and it allows you to be more in touch with your surroundings somehow. As long as it doesn't become obsessive - you're not planning to walk the 50 miles from your home to college, right? :P - there's no reason why you shouldn't keep it up. Your body will thank you for it in the long run... I bet you'll still be lacing up your walking shoes when you're 90 while everyone else has forgotten how to put one foot in front of the other! Good luck and take care :)
