YummyMummy agony auntIf you think you are pregnant I would say that having rough sex wouldn't be wise as it can dislodge the protective seal that closes off where the baby grows.

The seal is there to protect the baby and stop infections getting in so sex whilst pregnant isn't an issue. Just take it a little bit easier until you know for sure.

hi, it is perfectly safe to have sex right the way through the pregnancy (unless there are medical conditions) me and my partner had sex right the way through both my pregnancies, sex even kick started labour when i was 10 days over due on my 2nd child. the only part of the pregnancy when it is not safe to have sex is when ur waters have broken, but i think sex would be the last thing on your mind then lol, hope this helps xx

A female reader, skye United Kingdom +, writes (8 August 2007):

skye agony auntSex would be ok. You cant hurt your baby if you are pregnant. Babies are well protected while in the womb, unless there are underlying medical conditions that would suggest otherwise.

As your pregnancy progresses, you and your husband might want to experiment with different positions to accomodate your changeing body shape. But you should be able to continue until the birth. Some schools of thought actually say that having sex can help induce an overdue baby - always take such advice from your healthcare professionals though.

Speak with your doctor if you are still concerned. He/she will be able to put your mind at rest.

Hope you get the "baby" answer you are hopeing for soon.

Best wishes,

Skye

A male reader, DJ8433 United States +, writes (8 August 2007):

DJ8433 agony auntSex should be fine unless you've had some complications with previous pregnancies, in which case you might want to talk to your doctor. Husband may even help you get your period started if you're just late.
