writes: Is it possible I have an undiagnosed mental illness?I never quite feel there, everything's a blur, it's like I'm watching through the eyes of a robot. I really don't know how to explain any of this. And I don't know how to go about it. I can't go to a doctor, as I don't know what to say, I mean, I've got to help the doctor to help me. All I can say is, I never feel like I'm there. Like, everything is just passing me by.I don't know anymore.Just feel like I'm falling into this alien place, and I'm not going to be able to get out of it once I've fallen.I feel like I'm asleep, like, can't think clearly and such.I've been going through a rough few months; depression, high anxiety, stress. I feel like my brain needs fixing.I doubt there's anyone out there who can help, since I've asked such a stupid question with lame information. But I would deeply appreciate any answer.Thanks. PS - Also you are 16 or 17 - I hope you can talk to your parents about this as well.

Hello - Please go to a doctor you trust, who has experience with mental illnesses, and tell them what you said here. I'm a person who has chronic depression and anxiety - depression is considered "chronic" if it last for 2 weeks of more in a row. But it could be something else too - thyroid deficiencies can cause depression-like symptoms, so can hormonal imbalances, your doc will probably run some blood tests as well.
I am not a mental health professional - but I can relate to what you are saying. When I was first diagnosed with depression, I felt like I was not part of the world. And this is most definitely not a normal way to feel for an extended period of time. Please take the first step and seek some help from a professional. Remember, motivation follows action, not the other way around. Once you start the process you may start to feel better then - but doing nothing will change nothing. Perhaps posting here WAS your first step - so keep it going - and good luck.
