I can just say that I understand the question since the girl I am seeing finally got divorced and wants to have my child. I am married too and send that she's determined to get pregnant.
For whatever reason, I am actually contemplating it. Chastise me all you want but I don't have a kid with my wife of 15 years and that's the only thing in mind. She knows I love her and I will definitely not leave my wife..
It's going to be interesting but I don't care as long as I have a kid.

I can relate to this. My husband has been having an affair for months now, and won't stop. He does not use protection and is always concerned the mistress may be pregnant. He does have 4 kids already with me. I think he would love her to get pregnant as he does have feelings for her, etc. She however does not want to have an illegitimate child. So I feel it's a control issue with the guy, wanting to have some attachment to this woman for life by having a baby with her.
And whenever they break up he'll still have reason to see her, etc. and monitor her behavior with other men etc.

I suppose if he had an overwhelming desire to prove his virility, and/or if he hadn't had children with his wife, then he might do this. Some men get broody, too. And we all know that when one is broody, one doesn't think straight.
Obviously it wd be a stupid thing to do, and complicate everyone's lives, not least that of the poor child. But can I imagine a married man doing this? Yes, if he wasn't thinking straight, or, I suppose, if he wanted a reason to leave his wife.

In the vast majority of situations it would be a cruel and selfish thing to do because every child deserves to have the love of both parents. A woman might choose to be a mistress and for many its a good choice (especially in societies with very high levels of inequality) but no baby chooses to be born into the "second class family". But, then, we are talking about men who have affairs and so reason and self sacrifice are not always high on the agenda.
The thought process involves some or all of the following (please understand that these are not thoughts that I endorse but I have been there):
- having my baby shows that she really loves me - she is prepared to do that for me
- the relationship has been running a few years, it has lost its fizzle, its rasion d'etre, so what next? What is the next step?
- some men who have mistresses or multiple lovers do so because we like to control women, influence them, effect them and what more fundamental and life - long way than to give them a baby.

I can't really think of a motive as to why he might do that... she's a mistress for a reason, (ie, he doesn't want to leave his wife for whatever reason) and generally kept at a distance- very separate from his life with his wife & kids. Getting her pregnant would only cause him problems and surely that'd be obvious to even the most dim-witted adulterer...
Can you think of a reason why he might want to? Hypothetically speaking...

Not to bust anyone's bubble, but not all men are nice and considerate.

A

Yes. It's possible. But very unlikely. Most of the time, a mistress is all about the sex and nothing else. The fact that a married man gets his mistress pregnant is probably more of a sign that he doesn't give a damn about protection, and has little respect for his wife or mistress.
