I am due my period in a few days however i dont think its that because, i usually bleed quite heavy when i first start and there was only a patch of blood. Also i put a fresh pair of knickers on and i havnt bled since.

 this is actually a very simple answer, yes it is normal. if you are still a virgin your hymen is still intact, and that is what makes you bleed during your first time having sex. if your boyfriend has been fingering you it is very plausible that he has accidentaly torn it slightly, causing some bleeding. you really dont need to worry about it unless it becomes a problem.

 It was possibly your hymen breaking. Some girls can bleed simply from fingering, it's a person to person thing and very much depends on your body, how he's going about it, etc.
