reader, anonymous, writes (20 July 2009): hey I am a nurse and have seen this before. there may be many reasons; she may be pregnant, she may have been pregnant and miscarried without knowing it, some brain tumours can cause the production of breast milk and lastly certain medications can stimulate the production of breast milk. She needs to see her doctor asap.

reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2009): I have had this problem for years. Tell her to get her prolactin level checked. They will do an MRI of her brain to make sure it is not a tumor. I don't have a tumor and dr doesn't know why my prolactin is elevated. Just have to get it checked once in awhile.make sure she goes to dr!!

I agree with everyone else on this one, she may be pregnant. But usually even a woman whos pregnant doesnt produce milk, only after the child is born does milk actually come in. However, there is a condition associated with 'leaking' nipples, and can lead onto the nipples been inverted which would then require surgery to correct. Unfortunately im not sure what this is called but it also usually only effects woman with small breasts. Perhaps you should subtly ask her about it and suggest she consult a doctor. Good luck x

Is she pregnant, has she ever been pregnant? That is where I know milk would be produced. Other than that, a hormonal imbalance, but that's something for a doctor to look at.
