writes: Is it fun to take pictures? (a minor rant) Ok this is something that might seem obvious. We live in a digital age where everything has a camera. Quiet often people think its fun to take pictures of yourself or partners in various poses ranging from a quick flash to full on sex. Great for you if that makes you happy and spices up your life. Just think. Think of what happens to that media. Where does it stay. your ex-boyfriend who got you to pose naked, says yes he has deleted them. Has he? has he passed them on to friends? What if the pc is stolen or the camera is lost? Think. Think of what happens 10 years on when in an act of revenge they re-emerge. Then what happens when the camera phone is sold on?Think. Then there are things like webcams. who is hidden just outside of your vision. Is it there friends? Are they recording it or screen grabbing etc. Of course all of that travels through the internet; magically. No computers to store it on or humans involved - no technicians etc. Why would they want to see it? Of course just deleting them is not enough. There are enough methods of recovering photos and things after they are deleted. Think. The only safe way to destroy the media is really (short of some large magnets and military grade software) destruction. Smash the memory cards, take out the hard disks and drill through them. Anyway just something that has bugged me on how stupid people can be. Always be sensible and becareful out there....(I am sure someone else said that) Hugs always, Star.x.

You definitely don't want to take any risky pictures if you don't want to risk them being seen by other people. In the digital age, they can be spread around the internet like wildfire. A file of 0's and 1's can be duplicated many times over and just because you delete the original, does not mean they cease to exist.
But I miss my days as a photo clerk in a drugstore before the digital photo age... From time to time, I got to see these wonderful naked pictures..

I like the rant! It is extremely sensible to advise people to think before making choices with digital media.... it's a whole new era and who knows what consequences may ensue from a drunken picture taking escapade or a love story turned into a revenge scenario.
I often want to tell people who post questions here to "think it through" and by that I mean "think it ALL they way through."
Thanks for the reminder to be cognizant of the dangers of sharing digital images of one's bits. (Look at where it got Uncle Phil; he had to get married to her after she took one look!---just joshing, Unky Phil.)

Heyy,
This is a really good article, and so true.
People should be careful about who and what they take pictures of...and with webcams, I really don't see the point, I have one (only because it's built into the computer) and honestly I think I've only used it once or twice while talking to a friend, and then take pictures, but I don't see the point.
I think this is a really good article about warning people and making them think and take caution..
Great Article.

Just be careful :). Maybe a follow up on what to do. Serious note from a friend of a friend story but verified. They split up badly and a few weeks later his parents, grand parents, sister, friends at work all got pictures of him.

I was looking after her place while she went away for the weekend with her boyfriend. She'd left her 35mm camera lying around so for a laugh I took a couple of pictures of my bits and put it back where she left it.
She took the film to Boots chemists for developing and asked for two sets of prints. When she went to collect them the sales assistant grinned at her and said "Tow sets of prints Mrs ****? Here you are"
When she got home and went through the photo's she told me she'd never dare set foot in Boots again.

I think the digital age is the best thing since the darkroom! I remember the time when if you didn't have a Polaroid Camera...you were really taking a risk...but there were times we took the risk...had them developed at the local Photomart! Looking back there could've been copies made...but at this point who cares! We had fun, and no one got hurt!
Let's not let paranioa stiffle our creativity!
