I've never shown anyone this and nobody knows I do it. I am perfectly happy to delete them if I shouldn't have them. Thanks!

I think you did the right thing. It's one thing to look but it's stepping over the line to start downloading.

Thankfully I've never posted a bikini shot on Facebook. It never occurred to me that people might save photos the I post - I'm naive, I suppose ... as are the female friends of the OP.

However a substantial amount was of celebrities, but I still deleted. To be honest I knew it was creepy when I did it but I did it anyway :/. This was my choice to do so by the way, I think I was kinda 'horny' at the time and it seemed like a good idea. I'm not socially awkward either. Also I should have clarified, I'm 15 and these girls are 15-16, but nevertheless they're gone. Thankyou for your advice, I wasn't certain if it was cool.

Saving files like this sounds just fine until your mom opens up the device you use to save the pictures. Or your sister. Or your dad.
[As for the girls your age posting bikini pictures, well, leave that for their moms and dads to deal with.]
Do you feel socially awkward or anything like that? I ask because you seem to feel very worried about doing this, to the extent that you can't tell anyone.
"I have taken to saving pictures" sounds like you don't have control over your actions. "I am saving pictures" "I choose to download pictures" "I am doing this thing downloading" may be more accurate.
Is it illegal? If someone puts up a naked picture on facebook in the UK, is it legal?
I'm sure you are not the only one who has downloaded pictures of fb friends, but is that how you want to relate to the girls you know?
It does sound a bit creepy if you are fb stalking girls you don't know for their bikini pictures, even if they are in your class. It also sounds a bit unsettling to me to think that girls who are 13 are even putting up pictures of themselves in bikinis that are sexual in nature.
I wore a bikini on the beach on vacation when I was younger. I didn't have fb to contend with then. If you wanted a picture of me in a bikini back then, you would have had to have been on the beach with my family, and take one. That would have been very weird, back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth.

There's nothing wrong, illegal or immoral with masturbation at that age if that's what he's using them for, I started younger than that as did most guys you'll meet, I had to use women's magazines most of them time or my imagination. If he's not using them for that, that's okay too.
I see no reason to demonise him if he is using them for self sexual exploration.
I see no harm in him having copies of bikini pictures that are publicly available on Facebook, what boy doesn't like the look of a girl in a bikini?
This isn't hardcore porn we're talking about, merely some non sexual pictures of girls he thinks are hot. No big deal as long as people don't find out because as you see here they'll judge it as creepy.
I merely see it as an extension of fantasy, girls like to put posters of topless rock stars and celebs in their underwear on their wall. Boys like scantily clad women. I see no difference.

Cerberus with all due respect you are usually spot on but "just don't tell anyone" and "facebook friends make great wank material" may be fine for a 22 yr old but not for a young boy 13-15....

Definitely creepy, for the exact reasons Cerberus describes.

I don't use Facebook myself; but I know of individuals who save people's amateur photos of sports and hot hatch cars from there from car enthusiast meets - no immoral issue there. If it's of people, then, not so OK.If it's of crowd scenes, goods or vehicles, then fine, no issue there.Hope this helps.

A
reader, anonymous, writes (23 September 2013): It's only creepy if they find out and it's definitely not illegal as long as you don't try and use them for commercial purposes, they belong to Facebook.
Facebook friends make for great wank material whether they post bikini pics or not. We do that mentally to most of them anyway in real life, might aswell have pictures to make the process faster. I have plenty of single guy friends who have used facebook that way, women don't seem to get we probably masturbate more to the real women we know than we do to porn stars or celebs.
When I was your age and discovering my sexuality no one but family were off limits for masturbation fantasy. I'd love to have had that kind of access to pictures of the girls in my school and stuff.
Just don't tell anyone, keep them well hidden and don't worry about it, you're just a normal teenage boy and in a world where sexting is the norm saving a few harmless non-sexual pics of the beautiful girls you know is fine, as long as you don't get caught. So don't save any on your phone and hid them in a file somewhere random in your OS.

Agree with CMMMP.. creepy yes
illegal... no they are on facebook and there fore if you can see them it's not an issue.
I use pictures friends post all the time as wallpaper on my computer (they are of dogs called Newfoundlands but the dogs don't seem to mind)\
however young ladies if they find out could mind...
what you are doing is not illegal but morally it's wrong.
please delete them.

It's creepy and actually, it *COULD* be illegal.
You are 13-15, right?? The girls in your class are the same age, making them UNDERAGE. If someone were to see a huge collection of underage bikini pictures in your hard drive, they would have a pretty good child pornography case against you.
Remember, softcore porn can include bikini shots as well. You keeping them to masturbate to is creepy, and can get you seriously busted, even if it's 5 years from now and a serious girlfriend decided to snoop and saw your teenybopper girl collection.
With all of the pictures of legal age women in bikinis out there, stop collecting them! Doesn't matter if they're on Facebook. A collection is not a good idea and reeks of "porn collection".

I think you have to ask yourself if you would be happy about someone saving pictures of you or your sister or other family member without their consent. It isn't illegal but it is a matter of having respect for your friends.

A
female
reader, anonymous, writes (23 September 2013): It's not illegal. As for creepy, that's a grey area in my opinion. These girls chose to post their bikini photos online for everyone to see. If they are even somewhat attractive, they should know guys are going to look at them. To me, why else would girls post photos of themselves wearing a bikini? They like the attention they get, whether they'll admit it or not. They pose to flaunt their bodies. They purposely choose the most flattering angles. I feel as long as you're not telling them you do this, you're not doing anything wrong. If you're friends with them, though, I would make sure your computer or phone (which ever devise you saved them on) is password protected. You don't want them accidentally discovering you're saving photos of them while you're hanging out. Now, if/when you have a girlfriend, you shouldn't hold onto these photos.
