I just wanted to know before I approached him, if that would have been proof of
him being married I would not have presented him with a question but a
comment. Oh and by the way I wasnt snooping, I was cleaning out his lunchbox

 You could ask him for a copy of the final divorce decree or judgment. Or, you can ask him why it says married on there.

reader, anonymous, writes (24 September 2009): Gosh no. He is probably trying to con the tax man by claiming extra allowances by saying he is married. It happens all the time in the UK. However if you have a gut instinct that something isn't quite right and normally us women are pretty good on this - ask him out right.

 He could be divorced but never got around to informing his company's accountants. But it's possible that he is still married. There's no way to know just from that.
Now, how he files his TAXES, that would be a better indicator. Personally, I'd ask him. He could have just never realized he needed to tell work about the divorce, or he could come clean and confess. You'll never know until you ask.
