Is he just insecure....or possessive and controlling?

A female Ireland age 41-50, *implely me writes:

okay my relationship is so complicated. i have been with my boyfriend for a little over 3 years and i have noticed some things like i cant go hang out with friends, i have to be very carful whom i talk to other wise he accuses me of cheating on him and being with other people. even family all i can do is sit in the house unless he wants to go some were so my question is ..is it just his insecurity or is he possesive and controlling?

He's not only possessive and controlling, he's also emotionally/verbally abusing you. Plus, he undoubtedly has anger management issues, if you're so afraid of crossing him that you're not comfortable even talking to family.

Be aware that men who physically assault women always start with emotional abuse, including isolating her from her friends and family. You are in danger, if he hasn't already started hurting you.

Please consider leaving him asap. Reconnect with your family and friends, and find out where the women's shelters are in your area. Make a plan, and then leave. Whatever you do, don't tell him ahead of time; men like this will do anything to sabotage your plans.

fi_the_tree agony auntTo follow up, have you ever given him any reason not to trust you? Coz then this could be to do with some insecurity on his part. But at the moment, it just seems he's possessive and controlling
