A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I just need some advise. lately ive been thinking strongly about having sex with my boyfriend. we are bother turning 18 in a month and we are both smart and mature for our age. I know he loves me and I love him with all my heart. also, we have been dating for a year and he and I are very close in everyway. We are both christians and come from pretty strict christian families but we still "fool around" quite a bit. espescially lately. the fartheat we have went is so called "third base" (bj, and eating) and we are both very comfortable with eachother. Based on oir age, religeon and the time span we have been dating is having sex soon labled slutty or stupid? I just feel like I need advise before talking to my boyfriend about it.

Thanks! ;)

A female reader, CindyCares Italy +, writes (9 November 2012):

CindyCares agony aunt You are both ready , you love each other, you have been dating one year, and you are nearly 18. Wait one more month :), and everything would be allright.

" Would be " . How do you work the Christian angle into that ? Aren't you supposed to abstain from premarital sex ?...

Don't get me wrong, I know how it goes. I live in a Catholic country and I don't know anybody, literally anybody, who had waited until their wedding night to have sex..

Here, the affiliation is Catholic but the mentality and feelings are secular : a very ,very wide majority of people won't let their generic, nominal, official religious affiliation with their personal life and bedroom activities.

But, they also generally don't bring up being Catholic, or Christian- least of all in reference to their love life.

You do bring it up, and in the context of this specific question. It must mean something,I guess.

So if your question is " is it ok having sex for an 18 y.o. girl who is mature, smart and feels ready ?" the answer is : sure, why not. Wait until 18, use protection and... have fun.

But if the question is " is it ok having sex for such a girl as above described, who is also a Christian who believes in her church's teachings and is committed to follow them and respect them ? "... the answer is : Er, no. It's a big sin against the 6th Commandment. In fact, you should also stop doing what you are already doing.
