Is God the reason my answers aren't being posted?

Question - (3 January 2008) 16 Answers - (Newest, 15 February 2008)
A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I don't understand. I've responded with reasonable answers to reasonable questions on this site and my answers are not being posted. Has anyone else had that problem? I've responded to some questions that are very meaningful to me becuase I've been in similar situations and I feel that I can offer advice that can really help someone out. Isn't that the purpose for this site? To offer advice to those with questions and also to give advice based on past experiences? Is it because I believe in God and sometimes use the word God in my answers? I don't understand why it's become so delicate to use the word "God" these days. We have freedom of speech but we are being forced to refrain from using the word "God". Well, we also have the freedom to believe in "God" if we wish and I don't try to push religion on anyone, but sometimes I will quote verses from the Bible that pertain to the situation at hand. I'm sorry if I seem offended, but I feel that I've offered some really good advice that I feel could really help someone out in life, but that doesn't seem to be as important as the ejaculation questions.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 February 2008):

""Everyone ejaculates, so there is the common denominator""..

That didn't sound very spiritual/... I think God can't stand for the word ""spiritual"". There is so many other ways to be spiritual, and touch the deep-end. but It is hard to advice to people, if they looking for more meaningful answerers, they have to move to a religion forum. As you can be 100% spiritual ,yet not have any religious beliefs. I feel this too, that any question can survive here, with no depth what so ever. And I think sometimes maybe most of the people actually are very simple, and they can talk about ejaculation for ever. I think body +mind+soul comes together, and even if we don't believe in God,we all have feelings. I'm not sure about God,or any other forces out there ,what would guide us,but I believe if we get obsessed with our genitals,we can get too shallow. I noticed a huge shift in this site, earlier, there were much more ""real problems "" posted, and now it got to be a teen advisory.Don't get me wrong, teens are very important to me,I have children, but you don't feel comfortable posting your adult problems, or emotional problems, if 1o years old kids wants to know ,how to turn on their classmate at lunchtime.

The good thing about this site ,that is so much simple to get threw, and it is good that is general, that is why I don't believe any answers or questions should be thrown out,

Maybe it would be good to have a different section for 10 -25 years with or without God.

A female reader, shandygirl United States +, writes (13 February 2008):

shandygirl agony auntI beleive in God too. But I don't stand on a "soap-box" preaching.

There are different ways to spread the word of God. One of them is to give advice to people that you think that God would approve of.

Another way is that you can sort of quote the scriptors, but in your own words, without disclosing where it came from.

For example, "Treat others the way you want to be treated" INSTEAD OF "Love thy neighbor as yourself"

Another example would be..." Having affairs are not acceptable! Stay away from someone else's Man!" INSTEAD OF "Thou shalt not commit adultry...thou shalt not covet thy neighbors' wife... Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors goods."

Can you understand what I mean?

Take care! :)

Collaroy agony aunt"I think if more people received general knowledge in a simple form not based on a particular religion but based on "Gods Word" as it states in the original Bible then the true meaning of "God" would be exposed".

Hi, I am one of the moderators . While I would never delete a post purely based on the use of the word "God" I admit that I am a bit wary of these types of posts. Mainly for the reason that people are not seeking spirtual advice but advice on matters of the heart. If someone mentions they are religious and it matters to them I think a religious response is more than appropriate as it is relevant to their lives.

But the quote from your post above worries me . You talk about God's word in the original Bible with such conviction but you also imply that if folk from other religions would open their eyes to the way you interpret the bible then everything will be fine. That is preaching and frankly it's also condescending to me. There are a multitude of religious sites where you can share your spiritual views with people of the same ilk, surely these would be more welcoming to your theories on spirituality than a relationship site such as this?

It comes down to values, you are attempting to impose your values on others by justifying them through scripture. And while you might think you are only trying to share these values , I believe most people really dont see this as relevant to their own problems.

A female reader, Oblivia Sweden +, writes (3 January 2008):

Oblivia agony auntYou say that ”…if more people received general knowledge in a simple form not based on a particular religion but based on "Gods Word" as it states in the original Bible then the true meaning of "God" would be exposed.” But isn’t this just an example of one of the big problems with discussing religious beliefs, that everybody think that their own book (the Bible here in your case) has the unbiased true meaning of God. Gods Word as it states in the original Bible IS based on a particular religion, the Christian. A Muslim or a Hindu or a Buddhist wouldn’t agree that this would be a simpler or less complicated way to be taught the true meaning of God, and they are right in it as well.

I think religion can be of good solace to many people at certain times and in other times it can be very oppressing and destructive. Like politics, religion comes in many shapes and many understandings, which is a reflection of our different ways of trying to make sense of and gain knowledge about our world, and I don’t think it is possible to solve this by finding one simple form to receive a general knowledge based on not a particular religion.

But to your original concern; I don’t know what you have written, but you sound like a sensible person to me and I hope your answers haven’t been unapproved only because you have expressed a belief, that would not be good at all.

Best wishes!

Seems like a lot of morbid topics regarding muslims and the muslim religion is being addressed here. Different people have different beliefs and understandings of different religions, and every individual is entitled to that, whether we agree or not. Does it give you a free pass to go around killing people and forcing others to believe what you believe? NO, absolutely not! The problem with religion is that it has become so complex. We have so many different types of religion and they all have different beliefs and understandings (or should I say mis-understandings). A big problem with religion these days is how it's being taught. Often times people don't understand it because it's not being taught in a simple form. I think if more people received general knowledge in a simple form not based on a particular religion but based on "Gods Word" as it states in the original Bible then the true meaning of "God" would be exposed. Thank you ALL for your responses to this post. I know it's a touchy topic, and I appreciate the opinions. It's sad that "God" and religion have been blown so far out of proportion. God Bless!!!

A female reader, TELLULAH United Kingdom +, writes (3 January 2008):

TELLULAH agony auntYou have to understand, that not everyone wants to hear the word God. Unfortunatly it sounds like you are preaching. Maybe you could offer some advice without mentioning religion.

After all, most wars are caused by religion, and the difference in what we all believe is astounding, even in the same faith. Some will live there life bound by what they see as right, others will be more liberal, and take different veiws into consideration.

When you consider what has been in the news lately, that the Muslim's will not give up, until we all give into there faith, and live our life by there rules, or they will kill or die themselves to prove this is the only way to live, can you blame people not wanting to hear anymore religeous beliefs. (i know that these are extreme views, and not every Muslim is nuts by the way).

Really I think this site is no place for religion. Just helpfull and kind advice. Thats just my opinion of course.

Thank you Andrew. I understand that all answers must be approved, and some are pending. But there are several answers that I've posted days, even months ago that never made it through for some reason. I can understand if there is just so much data being processed that some of it gets lost, overlooked, bypassed, dropped or whatever the case may be. I just wanted to verify that it is for technical reasons and not my beliefs. Thank you for responding.

A reader, anonymous, writes (3 January 2008):

They may have sounded judgmental if you post frequently with references to the Bible and God. Not everyone believes in God, many people are athiests, and not everyone has the same religion. I have included the word God every once in a while and an actual bible quote, but I don't do this on a regular basis because I am trying to answer without reference to religion, out of respect for people's differences. Perhaps there is another frame of reference that you can you to point out the teachings of the Bible without the constant reference to it? The content of the message would be the same!

On a more ethical and legal point, if the purpose of your message is to convert, as some religions require a certain amount of missionary work, then it might seem out-of-context and not in keeping with the original purpose of the site. Freedom of speech is a right, but separation of church and state is constitutional, as far as I understand it as a Canadian. Perhaps one of these answers was a helpful as possible explanations.

DearCupid agony auntLooking at your answers the vast majority have been approved, a few are pending at the moment but that just means they are waiting a moderator to approve them (same as with all answers)

I personally don't moderate answers it's down to the team of mods we have on the site there are guidelines to stick to but none mention god.

Well you certainly won't be getting bad ratings from me on this subject. And you are exactly right Sandman, people don't want to hear good ol' fashioned advice anymore. It's more like you have to rub them down with baby oil and sniff their butts to get good ratings these days. But ratings are just numbers, good sound advice could be priceless to the right person (if they receive it), regarless of religion, sex and race. I come to this site to give and receive advice, I'm not trying to push religion down anyone's throat. I understand that not everyone believes in God or preceives him/her the same way and I don't go around criticizing anyone who has an opinion on this matter. It just seems more and more these days like religion has become a disease and noone wants to get infected. It's quite sad acutally that sex, masturbation, porn, gay/lesbianism, dating married men/women, cheating on spouses and teen pregnancy has become so popular, but regigious belief is being frowned upon. Thanks for being brave enough to responsed to this question and I really hope others will reflect on this situation. In the mean time, I will continue to offer advice with and/or without the word "God" and scriptures from the bible and hope that my answers will be posted equally to others.. God bless you and good luck in all you do!!!

A male reader, Sandman United States +, writes (3 January 2008):

Sandman agony auntI'm with you on this subject. I do have to admit that I'm not entirely sure why your answers wouldn't be posted.

Something I've taken notice of - and stopped frequenting this site because of - is the people's lack of understanding for multiple opinions on one subject. I will make reference to God or to abstaining from sex until marriage and my ratings will go down. I give advice on pregnancy and the like and my ratings go WAY down.

It seems to me, that if you're aren't of the mainstream - meaning if you aren't telling teens to go out have sex (but use a condom) or if your views are not that of the masses, then your ratings will take a great hit. I'm not trying to be "preachy" or impose my views on people because I know not everyone believes the way I do - but for people to believe that your answer doesn't deserve posting - or that your answer isn't what their answer would have been so they don't like it and thus rate it accordingly - is beyond me.

Case in point: if you look at Top Agony Aunts - you will see my name being listed #38 "Rated by all users" column at 7.51 - but my name is listed #23 "Rated by the question asker" column at 9.11. So obviously it's not the person asking the question who thinks my answer isn't good - it's everyone else who doesn't like my answer because it doesn't jibe with their beliefs.

The very first sentence in one of my answers "Can precum get you pregnant" was "...(Almost certain my rating score will drop after offering this answer, but oh well...)" A guess what happened at the end of the day. It was very interesting to watch my score dive 10 points in one day. Unbelievable!

And I'm sure my ratings will take another hit today too.

Hope this helps.

A male reader, Ponungalungb United States +, writes (3 January 2008):

Ponungalungb agony auntI don't know what your answers or questions have been but not everyone believes in God . . . or your idea of who God is. I believe in God. My God may be different than your God. My girlfriend believes in God, but has different interpretations of the Bible than I do. If you're preaching or passing scripture, not eveyone will be open to that, and, may be offended by it. Particularly if they are of another faith.

Everyone ejaculates, so there is the common denominator.

God bless you. . . in whatever form you see Him/Her in.
