reader, anonymous, writes (12 July 2007): Time isn't the sole factor in losing weight. You have to maintain a certain heartbeat per minute for at least 20 minutes of cardio in one go, but more preferrably 30 to 45 minutes if you want better results without tiring your body out too much. That certain heartbeat per minute is based on your age and your weight, and you have to maintain at least 80% and above of that certain heartbeat per minute.
As for weight lifting, this gives you a different effect than cardio. Cardio is primarily to maintain or increase stamina, while weights is primarily to maintain or increase strength. With weights, you can convert your fat content to muscle content. So you can actually weigh more or equal to when you were fat to when you become more muscular.

30 minutes of vigourous excersise in the morning is enough, as long as its followed by a healthy diet during the day to.
Light weight lifting is good if you want to target and tone up a particular part of the body, and probablly 15 to 20 minutes of this is fine.

my sister tells me anything under 30 minutes and you wont lose weight so 30 minutes is fine :)
