I dont really like my nose too much, I got it from my dad im sure because he's is even worse! I also use to be insecure about it, I felt it made me look ugly.
One day someone gave me great advice and its made a world of difference to me and how I look at myself. People don't look at your seperate features, they look at your face as a whole. When you look at yourself, dont concentrate on your nose, just try to step back and look at your face as a whole, im sure all the different parts suit and make you, you.
As a side note, try looking at someone else's face, perhaps someone you think is attractive, and look at their individual features. Not all, but some will have a feature that on its own, looks abit different from the norm, but thats part and parcel of what makes them attactive. You are no different. I hope this will help you as it helped me 3-4 years ago.

 Hi, I have a rather big nose too, it kind of slopes down for a bit then slopes back up with a round bulgy bit at the end. You can see in my picture it's a bit big. I used to really hate it, I would spend all kinds of time with two mirrors examining it in great detail and dreaming of a short cute little perky nose. The very tip of mine actually moves when I talk or blink.
Now I rather like my nose and have begun to believe my husband, family and friends that it's one of my distinctive features. Sets me apart from the ordinary run of mill beauty queens. Not that I wouldn't want to be considered a beauty queen, but I like the way I look for the most part. (Still could stand to lose some weight...)
Anyway, what I'm blathering on about it that how your carry yourself and how you project your confidence has the most impact on how other people see you. If you think you look ugly, and slink around like you are, you'll be perceived as unattractive. But if you carry yourself with confidence and project the idea that you are desirable, then guess what, people believe that!
Okay, on to the how to make it look smaller part of the question. Avoid the hair fringe (we Americans call them bangs) which point down to your nose. A swept back hairstyle or hair that falls flatteringly across the sides of your face might be best. Keep your head up and look people in the eye. I experimented with makeup years ago, shading the sides and under the tip of my nose years ago, then realized it looked hideous. Keep your skin clean and try to keep the shine off your nose a bit, glowy cheeks are good. Also emphasize your eyes and/or lips if you think they are a good feature.
Confidence in your own skin is the best thing for you! All the best.

 dont be insecure about your nose - 1. A big nose does not make a girl look ugly. dont worry, there are loads of girls in my school with big noses and they are all very pretty. - its every guy to his own really.2. I dought that there is anything that can be done to make your nose look smaller, but im not an expert so i wouldnt take my word for it on that aspect.
