I am a 17 year old of afraid losing my hair, i started to notice that on my receding hairlines i see some thin spots but some times they grow back and fall out again ,is that a bad sign ? I asked my mother about that and she said that everybody loses hair on that spot but it grows back again and it is normal and i don't have to worry about it, because i have really thick and a lot of hair like her's. I also asked my barber and she said that it isn't falling out. Also weird is that if comb my hair to the right side the left receding gets thiner but if i comb it to the left the left receding side grows back but the right gets thiner a little. I hope these are not signs that i have to worry about....i mean what em i gonna do if i get bald at really young age ? I am going to be depressed and girls are not going to look at me anymore....i have long forehead too which would make it look more horrible and then everything is over.

I don't know if it matters ,but i dyed my hair once blonde but then back to brown and now i have blonde highlights ,i read that bleaching your hair might cause hair loss, and in the years i was depressed and was under stress a lot this could cause it too. I hope that i am just talking silly on the other side i need know if i am right ,so that i can start to get treatments now.

I know that a topic like this does not belong here but i have nowhere else to go ,and i feel that i could get honest answers here. So i really appreciate if somebody can give me answers.

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (30 November 2010):

Bleaching could be causing the hair loss, or stress could be causing it. And yes, the depression could be causing it. Whatever the cause, it might be worth you going to the doctor and getting yourself checked out. You need to know if you're allergic to bleach, or whether you're depressed. So, I'd say go to the doctor.
