The chances of you getting pregnant are low but it can happen and the pill won't prevent you catching an infection. The pills come with leaflets about the chances so have a look through that.
Otherwise I would suggest talking to someone about the various forms of contraceptives and what works for you. The pill would probably be fine on its own but do you really want to risk it?
