A male Australia age 41-50, *ulcrum writes:

I was having an affair (I have two children with my partner) for about 14 months which has just recently ended.

The affair ended when she meet somebody else, since I had not at the time said I would leave. I then decided to leave to create some space for myself while the person I was having the affair with was seeing somebody else.

After two weeks of telling me how much she loved me (we had slept together), she got engaged to the other man. He has paid off all her debts and they are buying a house together ASAP.

She says she is in love him, it hurts alot and I wondering why/how I am so replacable (I realise I am feeling the same emotions as my partner must have felt when I told her about the affair). I've cut all contact, although she has tried to contact me, I've not replied.

I'm wondering how long it will take me to get over her and why I did it in the first place.
