You can still get pregnant.

Until you start going through menopause, you're still able to get pregnant.

I would not put stock in the statements that it is unlikely you won't get pregnant at your age. My aunt had a baby at 50, yup you got it 50 and that was a Whoops, surprise. Stay on birth control, or have your tubes tied or have your husband get a vasectomy if you do not want any more children or have problems taking the pill or smoke as you are at an increased risk of heart problems over 35, a smoker and use the pill.

My grandmother still got pregnant at 59-ish. She reached menopause really late. The children had no birth defects whatsoever.
If you're healthy, your baby will be as well.
I hope that helps.

Of course you can still get pregnant, you're fertile until you go through the menopause.

35+ it's not recommended that you should try for a baby, because the older you are the more likely the baby will have complications or it will be harder for you to because your body is producing less eggs. Now unless, you have had your tubes tied, lasered off, or have had you're ovaries removed then you still have a chance of getting pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant and think you're too old to take birth control then I would ask your gyno about looking into getting your tubes tied.

A

My aunt got pregnant at 40. You are able to get pregnant until you go through menopause. Have you gone through menopause yet?

A
female
reader, anonymous, writes (17 September 2010): You can TOTALLY get pregnant at 39! Or 42! It is less likely, but it happens.
If you don't want a baby, you or your partner should get "fixed" in some way.
Yikes.
