k_c100 agony auntI think you should go to the doctor - there are lots of different ways they can help you and they will be able to explain all your options. When you go and see the doctor just explain that you feel you have too much hair for a female and you would like some help in getting rid of it because it is effecting your confidence and your self esteem. As long as you explain to them that it is starting to effect your mental wellbeing then they will be more than happy to help.

You will need some form of hormonal based treatment - some forms of the pill are great for reducing hair growth. Other non-medical treatments you can consider are:

1. Bleach - if you have facial hair that is pretty dark then bleach is a great way of making it lighter. They sell facial bleach products in most chemists and beauty stores (anywhere that sells skin care products). This only takes 10mins and makes the hair very light so you cant see it, but you do need to keep doing this every 2-4 weeks.

2. Shaving/Waxing - for the hair on your legs I suggest you either wax or shave this - it is quick and easy and as long as you keep on top of it you will have hair-free smooth legs! Waxing is more painful but lasts longer (you can get this done at a beauty salon or do it at home). Shaving is much less painful and easier to do at home by yourself but the results dont last as long.

3. Hair dissolving cream - this might be good for any other hair on your body (small patches) as this takes about 10 mins and just dissolves the hair so it is gone completely. Again this will need to be don every 2-4 weeks to maintain the look but it is easy to do at home and you can buy it in all beauty stores that sell skin care and most chemists.

4. Laser treatment. If you have the money for this and a good pain threashold then I cant recommend this enough - it is the only way to permanently get rid of body hair! Basically the laser zaps each little hair and after a number of treatments (can be from 3 to 20+ treatments depending on the area of the body). You can get this done in some beauty salons and minor cosmetic surgery clinics - it hurts and costs a bit of money but once the hair is gone then you will never need to have it done again!

I hope this gives you some things to think about and good luck!

Well, this is only one thing I remember hearing about what to do against pilosity in women: I *heard* (might not be true) that the contraception pill does help for that. But it will certainly not cover the entire problem. Being a man, I don't think I can help any further.
