Everyone knows him, and everyone likes him too.. just not the way I do. And I can't tell anyone I feel this way because of that reason, he would find out some how :( He is just so sweet, I'm so shy around him.. because I try to do my best in my sport. I really don't want him to find out. I have tried so hard to stop thinking of him in this way, but every time.. my brain just finds an excuse to love him more. I don't know what love is exactly. I'm just so confused, please help me

It sounds like you are younger than 18-21 and are experiencing a very strong crush on your coach. It means you are attracted to him. This attraction has given you a reason to work harder in your sport to please him. While this is a good thing in some way, you must understand that your coach views you as an athlete and is proud of your effort as an athlete...nothing less, nothing more.
Do not focus all of your efforts on athletics just because you really like your coach. Please make sure that your academics do not suffer.
In time, this crush will pass and will probably be replace by another crush. You may also have two or more crushes at once.
Basically, when you are young and really like someone who is older and even 'off-limits' like your coach, your sub-conscious is trying to tell you that this person has certain specific physical and character traits that you find attractive. Maybe he is a certain height, has a certain eye color or build, or he has certain personality traits that you like so much that you would like a boyfriend one day who is similar in these ways.
