well, the thing is im just 18 and im still a virgin, and all my mates as far as i know have done it. im worried about being one of those guys who doesnt loose it until im in my late 20`s early 30`s. i know people are going to say "dont do it for the sake of doing it, do it with someone you truly love" but seriously, should i be putting my self out there a bit more? also, im not exactly the most confident of guys and the fact ive only got a couple female friends doesnt help, so what can i do to help my self feel more confident around girls and perhaps get beyond the "friends circle"

A reader, anonymous, writes (25 March 2010):

You are only 18! You have plenty of time to lose your virginity and when you lose it doesn't make you any more or less of a man! My boyfriend didn't lose his until he was 27! Not because the opportunity didn't arise, but because he wanted to have sex for love not just for the sake of losing his virginity. There is NO shame in being a virgin at an older age. I don't know of a single girl that would be upset to be with an "inexperienced" man. With that said, maybe there are some girls who would be but it's not nearly as common as you might think. So, look for love, not sex. Sex will come when it's time. Don't worry about being shy...you can still meet girls. You might need to be a little more forward, but shy guys get girls too!

J.T.1988 agony auntI don't know man.I'm still trying to figure that out for myself. Just know that your not alone even though we are few and far between.

And for all the other aunts out there.Unless you've actually bin an older male virgin in the U.S. or Europe you have no idea how gut wrenchingly lonely it can really be sometimes.

If you ever want to talk though, just shoot me a message.
