I cant even answer the phone to my friends anymore cos Im nervous about talking to them and I dont know why. Im scared to take the intitiative and phone friends to meet or arrange a gathering. Ive always been quite shy but this is now begining to ruin my social life. Im 26. Why is this happening?

Instead of going to social gatherings, start slowly and work up to it. Arrange to meet a friend and hang out for the day. If you dont want to call them, send an email.
Do this for a while, and eventually invite someone else. work slowly and steadily and you'll get there eventually

i think you should maybe see your doctor it sounds like you might be developing a mental health issue and the longer its left to run the worse it gets and its harder to break
