 I had the same situation wit my bf....I was shy and he is very out going. Well over time I started being non-shy around him and we talked about it and he told me that I can just be myself around him and I don't have to be scared to say or do anything around him.

 There's no realy way of knowing if someone is going to ask you out, but remember, you can ask them!
Even though you're shy, just try it! The worst that can happen is they'll say no, which is hard at first but after a few it's like water off a ducks back =) then your confidence will grow, which will be visible!
Talk to him, and look for the telltale signs, does he make eye contact, smile at you, touch you (shoulder etc), then you'll know if he likes you!
