And if it was the senior boy from the same situation who was asking questions on this website, then the same people answering the questions would be calling him a pedophile for being interested in a 13-15 year old girl. Double standard.

It sounds like he might have some reservations about the age difference, he might get teased by his friends. It's tough at that age because what your friends think really matters, which in the ling run is silly!
Why don't you spend a little time getting to know him better, try to spend time just you and him. Go ice skating, go to the cinema, go for a coffee and a chat.
You don't need to make a big deal about it at school or in front of friends.
