Hi i am a dispencary assistant, so i will give you the general advice for erythromycin, but you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure this advice is correct for you. This drug needs to be taken on an empty stomach, for example one hour before food or two hours after food. Food can interfere with the absorption of this medicine. (so yes erythromycin needs to be taken on an empty stomach so that it works properly)

Unfortunatly what sarahbeth101 has said is incorrect, some medicines do need to be taken with food but some medicines it is important that they are taken on an empty stomach.

Goodluck with your treatment and check with your doctor or pharmacist/chemist if you still have any questions.

most drugs you shouldnt take on an empty stomace. as mentioned it can cause migranes and stomace aches. it sounds like you are planning not to eat for a while? despite the fact this can cause all kinda of problems (take it from me ive been there and im paying for it) if you are taking a drug that is prescription based you should always eat something. this helps the drug move round the body. just having water could cause the drug to have adverse effects. best place to ask is the GP or walk in cntre, or read the box and it should tell you on there

you should never take any drugs on a empty stomch! if you do you might get migrains and get stomch aches and very dizzy. So just eat before you take any drugs.
