A male United Kingdom age 30-35, *kelligon writes:

I'm 16, but for some reason I always feel like I've lost touch with reality, or like I'm in a dream? Does anyone think this is because I've been having sleeping problems for about a month or so, but just recently, I just feel like nothing is real anymore. Is this normal for a teenager my age or is it just linked with my sleeping problems?

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (10 August 2008):

It's probably linked to the sleep. I stayed awake for 3 days straight once when finishing my degree. The carpet was moving like water on a lake and I was really worried I was going to trip over it or fall through it.

Try and give yourself a sleep routine, don't snooze during the day but make yourself tired so you'll sleep at night. Make sure there are no lights on and stay away from caffine and TV and internet for a few hours before bedtime.

Read a book in bed to calm your brain and have a glass of warm milk.

If you still can't get to sleep after trying all this then you might want to take a trip to the GP to see if he can give you something to knock you out.

Good Luck!! xx

Oh Darling, You need to find out why you are having sleeping problems, because if you are not getting the hours of sleep you need that can cause you to have other problems too.If it is really bad, maybe you should talk to your parents and go see a doctor ASAP. You are too young to be having this type of problems. I hope you are not doing drugs. Take care of yourself.I hope you solve it soon.Good luck!
