writes:It's the worst when you've come to realize that the guy you've loved for so long doesn't even care anymore... It feels like you'll never be able to move on from that one first (everything) love. I need some hope that this feeling won't last forever and in time the pain will be gone.

Of course it won't last. But you have to be proactive about it. Don't just sit around waiting for it to get better. Get out there with friends, throw yourself into your job, start some new hobbies. Do anything that just gets your mind of him. It will get better, but you must be active about it.

It often takes longer than you think or hope, but it does ease. The cliche of "time healing" is annoying but fairly accurate, although often there will be lingering thoughts for years to come.
