He sure sounds like he is "otherwise involved" and lying. That's why he is limiting how you can contact him! "We can ONLY talk through facebook/I don't have a cell phone."??? This is the USA, EVERYONE has a cell phone - especially every single 25 year old that I know of!
Why he isn't giving out his phone number? I'll bet if you make the hour drive you will find a tricycle in the driveway and a common-law wife in his house; and if I were you - I would do it before you fall for him completely. Sorry to point it out - hope I am wrong.

No phone? That sounds iffy to me.
Potential? I don't know. The whole no phone is a red flag to me. Maybe he's married - has a GF or lives in his parents basement.
When you two meet up, where do you meet up at?

Sometimes they work. An hour isn't that long considering people do it from different corners of the world.
I think if you like him, keep at it and see where it leads. It might be nothing but it might be the person who you spend the rest of your life with.
I hope this helps =)

Potential- low. Very low.
Personally, I don't believe in LDRs. Some do work, I know, but in percentage, as compared to all the couples who attempt one, the happy endings are really few.
But, actually that this does not really qualify as LDR. One hour distance ? That's everyday reality for lots of people living in New York, Los Angeles, London, Rome- yet they manage somehow.
Why can you two only meet every two weeks ? Why not more often ?
And, what does it mean he does not own a phone ? How his friends and family would contact him in case of emergency ? He might not own a cell phone-, but, hasn't he got a land line at home, or a work phone number ?..
