I'm 16 and I've lived in the same place for like 8 years and I have some people I talk to at school but not out of it and I really don't mind. reader, anonymous, writes (4 February 2010): Your Mum is worried about you but it is important you develop your own interests and preferences at your own pace in your own way. So... if you are pretty much ok as you are then just be yourself. If you prefer to be on your own, maybe you could still do that within the context of a hobby - for example photography can take you anywhere but you can happily do that on your own.

If you don't want to be more social, then don't. I don't recommend making more friends because your mother wants you to.
If you do want to be more social for yourself, go out more and be seen. Ask some of the people you talk to about doing something outside of school. Join a club or team.
