There are lots of reasons why you cannot get an erection, psychological, physical or a bit of both. From a physical point of view, the first thing is to check your cholesterol (heart disease risk), prostate, male hormones, glucose (for diabetes), blood pressure, testicle size. Do you smoke as this is a risk factor in causing damaged fine blood vessels that feed the penis to obtain an erection. If all these things are OK then speaking to a sex therapist may help. Loss of the ability to have an erection may also be caused by certain medication such as those which control blood pressure, and doctors are notoriously bad as explaining this when prescribing them, although unfortunately raised blood pressure does need controlling as a priority. See your doctor or practice nurse about the problem and they should start by checking these things rather than just reaching for a prescription for Viagra type medication.
Also, under the guidance of a health professional who is trained in erection problems, there is a way of taking a Viagra type medicine that can be more effective than just trying a couple of pills and being disappointed by the lack of effectiveness. Ideally it should be a specialist clinic who could guide you in this once your bloods etc have shown to be OK.
