Some professionals seem to think that weight training in your teens is unnecessary or that you are too young. And they recommend calisthenics instead. But this is only theory it is not a proven fact. If you do them incorrectly, your body may appear shrunken which could possibly create the illusion of stunted growth. Just be sure to stretch out and DON'T do steroids. I don't even like guys who are that buff. gross. I like guys who are ripped and toned and like about 170 lbs. That's it. But if your arms get too large or you look like a bodybuilder, I don't like that.
Anyways I seem to remember knowing kids your age when I was 14 who lifted weights. And they just had a shapely body. I think exercise of any kind is EXCELLENT.

Actually 14 is a good age to start working out. You just need to be on a program that is suited for you. If you are a beginner, you need to start slow, increasing your training gradually. There are good places to learn. Your local gym, if there is one. You are obviously on the net, and there are good sites that give good info. Most will stress getting aerobics as well. This is jogging or running on the exercycle/tread-mill. You will be told to start with weight you can handle for two sets of ten reps to begin with. You then gradually increase the weight as you go along...and the number of sets, over a period of weeks/months. It is a gradual thing. Don't try to be an Olympic lifter all at once. And the workout should include all the major muscle groups. Not just arms and shoulders. Most 14 yr old guys are growing very fast skeletally(bones). Their bones can outgrow their muscles if they are not giving them good work. They can become weedy and weak though they may be tall and have a good bone structure. And don't forget good food. Eat a healthy diet, or your wasting time trying to build muscle. You should know already what that is...if you go to a school somewhere in the civilized world. Best wishes. Tom

Im not one hundred percent sure about that. but I guess its ok that your keeping yourself healthy and active, but maybe if you cut it down to about 2 or 3 times a week for about 10/15 mins. becuase yeah you are growing and you could pull muscles in your arm doing the weights. and permantly damage yourself.
