Well my daughter is 12 and she has used tampons since the second day of her first period. She tried the pads and after about two hours looked at me like....."are you kidding me....this is not going to work."
First of all, have you Tried tampons? or are you supposing that beings your a virgin you can't. Well it is not true. You have exactly the same compartment as you will after you stop being a virgin. The only difference is there is a tiny stretch of skin that is in no way affected by a tampon.
If a tampon is uncomfortable it means it is not positioned correctly.
If it is in right...you Cant feel it. Your pelvic floor muscles hold it in place above any nerve endings. Also buy the lower/lite/regular size or ultra thins to start with. All have perfectly readable instructions.
Take your time, relax and don't be nervous.
Of course I explained all this to my daughter, but I had to learn from the box because my mother did not approve of tampons....she honestly thought they could get lost inside of you....she's 75 and as many times as I have explained to her that it is a closed system.....She still felt it necessary to warn my daughter that this was something that happened in her day.....LOL....Don't worry...as horrible as this all seems...you will find things that make you more comfortable and you will get better at it.

Im nearly 15 and have only just started using tampons and still find them abit tricky. Are you sure your buying the right towels there are so many you can get these days there should be some that you can find comfortable. At first they can be uncomfortable it takes getting used to. Try talking to your mum about it.

When you're older, you can give them a try again and see if they work out better. In the meantime, use pads. P.S. When the time comes for you to go down this path again, start out using the "junior" sizes and graduate to fuller ones when you feel okay with it. Good luck.

Pads are made big to prevent leaks, you should buy thins one and some have special wings to prevent it from moving or sticking on you..There are even some for teens.

As for tampons at first you may have a hard time to place them properly. But your body is for sure not to small for it, i was 9 when i got my period, so you can imagine...
Just ask your mother, it's a very uncomfortable time, it always will be but all women have to go trought it every month.

Hi there.
I feel for you. Periods are no fun are they and towels are even less fun. Dont worry though because you can use tampons even if you think you're too small. They come in all shapes and sizes and you can get small ones that will be easier to use. The non applicator ones are normally smaller and maybe easier for you to use so shop around and im sure you'll find a tampon that you'll be able to use. Take care.
