Medically speaking it is ok to have sex while pregnant provided that you stick to comfortable positions and you are not a high risk for miscarriage, premature delivery etc - seek advice from your midwife. The act of sex won't affect the baby but you would still be vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections and some of these can affect the baby and the health of your pregnancy if untreated. Therefore you should still think about contraception with a new partner even if you are pregnant.

reader, anonymous, writes (24 October 2007): Yea, if the other man has an std. you need to be very careful because if you catch a std, your child could get it, and at birth it could cause blindness & other things in the infant..you shouldn't be doing this anyways.
