writes: How do I get my boyfriend to give me gifts on holidays and treat me like he values me? My boyfriend is affectionate, a good friend, and the sex is off the charts outstanding. Weve been together for 8 months now. For my birthday and xmas which are a day apart he gave me a bouquet of roses. No card, no gift, not even a note on the paper card stuck in the roses - it was blank. I was upset, but said nothing. So last night, Feb 13 was our night to celebrate Valentines, and he brought me a burrito from a fast food restaurant and 6 roses from the grocery store, no card, no gift, no chocolate, no vase for the roses. This man makes 3X the salary I make, and has no problem paying for things he wants. He is in his 40's and has had long term relationships, so its not ignorance on his part. I love the sex, affection, and friendship - but his lack of giving at traditional gift giving times of the year make me feel like he doesnt value me. This is the 3rd holiday into the relationship that has made me feel he is just doing the bare minimum he has to in the relationship so he can get the sex he wants. What can i say to him or what actions can i take to solve this? And - is it normal for me to feel this way, or do you think i'm overreacting?

Surely if he is affectionate and loving in every other way why are you being so shallow about gifts?
