Do you think it would be ok to wear a small black top, black or white jeggings , knee high boots ( i have a black pair and a grey pair ) , and either a bolero jacket or a dressy coat ?. Both of those that i have are black. the thing is, i don't know if those colours would be too dark ?. i have some bright dresses and dark dresses, but, I just dont feel like wearing a dress and heels, especially as the weather is cold. to be honest, i prefer going to pubs, as 1. they are quieter, and sometimes i prefer it being quiet, and 2. you don't have to get as dressed up as you would for a bar or night club. but my friend is insisting that we go to a bar. what do you think ?. i'd appreciate opinions from both men and women. Blue and white top with jean jeggings, and grey boots. Blue and black don't go to together, unless it's a cobalt blue. Skirt over the jeggings may look a little bulky.

A bar is usually intended for a highly casual crowd. Wear something that you're comfortable with. If you're too dressy, you may feel out of place - like wearing a wedding gown to a pizza cafe. Also, it kind of depends on what the event is about.
For example, I usually go to the pub in jeans and a turtle neck or if I came from work, I'll be wearing a button up shirt and dress pants with my mid-thigh long coat. However, one of my friends wanted his one night out with the guys dressed in formal. So he went out in a gray suit, white shirt, red tie. His friend went out in a black leather jacket, white shirt, maroon tie, dress pants. I went with a black thick Chinese silk jacket, bronze inner Chinese silk jacket, black dress pants. We went to a trendy restaurant, followed by a casual bar/club after.
Bright clothing is good, if you want to attract attention. Most people wear low-profile colours - eg: black, gray, brown, beige. If you wear red, you'll get noticed. If you wear the low profile stuff, you'll blend in.
Ultimately, dress for the occasion, but dress comfortably.

White jeggings will show the dirt from the bar..we know they're not the most sanitary places. Personally I like the the medium to dark wash jegging or the destroyed ones. I say do the bolero jacket, jean jeggings, and the grey boots. I like to add some form of color even though it's a neutral. The bolero jacket over the dressy coat, because you don't want to be too covered up and want to show off that cute top you're wearing.

I would go with black leggings or jeggings, both are pretty much the same - black because they're less likely to be see through... The boots are fine, either colour will work if you're wearing black leggings. As for the top, personally I don't really like it when people wear short tops to leggings - even jeggings. I prefer tops that cover the bum if I wear something like this, but really depends what you feel more comfortable in. Don't worry about wearing too much black, I wear more black than anything else. Overall I think what you've said sounds fine but don't worry too much about what your outfit looks like, important thing is that you feel comfortable.
