I worry others may find me weird!

Question - (13 May 2013) 1 Answers - (Newest, 14 May 2013)
A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I'm polite and friendly and stuff but, I'm too shy to go up to people and talk to them, I'm in high school and the people have all come from primary schools in bunches of friends that already know each other, I can't bring myself to go up and talk to these groups and I don't like the friends I came in to high school with! What should I do? I'm generally lacking in confidence because I'm afraid they'll think I'm weird if I just go up to them! It sounds stupid but, I don't know what to do!

A male reader, human_male New Zealand +, writes (14 May 2013):

human_male agony auntVery few people would be comfortable just marching up to some complete stranger and trying to strike up a conversation. I think your best bet to meet people would be through social groups where you are introduced to people in a casual atmosphere. The added bonus is they probably share some interests with you. So find out what is available at school, and see if anything seems interesting.
