I want to do some work from home, can you tell me what you think of this website ?:http://www.maverickmoneymakers.comIf you don't think this one is genuine, could you please provide links to any websites that are genuine. I'm also looking for another job at the moment, either to do as an extra job, or I would work from home for now while I am unemployed and then do something else if something comes up.Has anyone else here ever worked from home, or knows someone who has? I also want to work abroad eventually, but I'm not sure what kind of work I should do there yet. I want to work in either Spain or the canary islands, so if anyone has any advice on that too, it would be much appreciated. Reply to this Question Share |

To further expand on her suggestions, you can always search for freelance jobs pertaining to those areas at various web sites. One such place would be Craigslist.org - it's broken up into cities around the world. Another would be kijiji.ca (Canada) or kijiji.com (USA).

Yes, I have worked from home. And still do sometimes, work from home, on my laptop or PC. It is called flexible hours based on deliverables. BUT, it all started from working with people in a proper office. Years of it. And yes, I still have to go to offices - though on an ad hoc basis - for meetings and conferences whenever necessary.
The question is, what expertise or skills do you have to offer a company that can get you "work from home" jobs? These are "real skills", such as
- translating or editing documents/reports/books/articles. Or,
- online tutoring (on subjects taught in schools/universities), that is becoming more and more common in the US (you get paid by the hour, and you get evaluated every month on your performance).
- Web design or database design (many IT people work from home, as they can easily do a conference online)
- statistics analysis, from research centers etc
and many more, I am sure
The key word is WORK. Sweat and tears (well, sometimes), As GinsengMeow said, people work up to 12 hour days when they first started. I can top that actually ;-) Meeting deadlines sometimes meant working 24 -30 hours non stop - equipped with coffee and sugars to keep me going! Oh yeah, paracetamol too to keep the headaches off for a few hours. LOL
Identify your interests, match it with your skills/knowledge/experience, then start looking for office jobs that can allows its employees to work from home.
As for working abroad, you can try organizations like VSO (in the UK) or Peace Corps (in the US)
Good luck!

@GinsengMeow:
A lot of what you said sounds to be like a Pyramid Scheme.. I will say good luck with those.. ;) Only way to make money there is being at the top which was started moons ago.
But if it sounds too easy, it probably is not worth your time and won't make you the money they promise you.

One of the most noticeable ones are "Online Data Entry" schemes. Imagine ten people. The first person is the scheme's author. He or she sells the first three 'instructions' on the "How To" of "Online Data Entry" to person 2. After reading through all three of the 'instructions', person 2 has the option to buy the next set of 'instructions' from person 1.
All at the same time, person 2 has the opportunity to resell the same 'instructions' he or she has bought form person 1. To do this, person 2 will have to sell this idea to others. Person 3, 4 and 5 comes along, shows interest and buys the first three 'instructions' from person 2. All the while, person 2 buys further 'instructions' from person 1. This scheme is multiplied and repeated as the scheme takes place.
What the organization found out was that the 'instructions' were simply a few lines of text telling you to buy more 'instructions'. It was a blatant scam, but it could not be illegal depending on your country's laws because you weren't lied to for what you were agreeing to buy.
---
Another scheme are the Google Adsense links that say you can earn a few thousand dollars a month. That is both truthful and very inaccurate.
It is truthful, because some of the most knowledgeable people in the world has started their Google Adsense businesses with only a few hundred dollars, expanding them to millions in a period of a year. However, it isn't actually as easy as it sounds. It takes a lot of web and marketing know-how in forming ad placements. It also takes a lot of work on a daily basis.
Some of those web sites that advertise you can make $3000 in one week with only a few hours of work is a lie. One company we worked with made 3 million a year on ads, but when they started, they worked 10 to 12 hour days, spending a good portion of their limited savings into marketing and buying domains, hosting and web page templates.
A regular consumer that buys into such a scheme might be able to make a few dollars per month. If you're knowledgeable and persistent enough, maybe a couple of hundred dollars a month.
