I want to show my love for my girlfriend, but is it odd to buy a ring for myself?

A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok, my girlfriend has this necklace that she wears. Not the most expensive necklace out there (but I really could care less, it's the thought that counts) and it is engraved with my name on it. She never takes it off, except to shower, she doesn't want to get it wet. Anyway, I kind of want something to show my love for her too. Something I can wear all the time, like she does.

So I figured a ring might be nice, (i'm not wearing a necklace all the time, I'm a guy). Does it seem weird? It's by no means a "promise ring" or something like that. Nothing suggesting marriage (i'm in high school by the way. A little early) Just a sign I'm with her in the here and now. Let me know what you all think, thanks.

Oh, and i'm kind of worried what her parents will think. Would they see me as...a little odd, buying a ring for myself and all?

Myrrh agony auntHi. Im sure her parents wont find it odd that you bought a ring to signify your feelings for their daughter. Its a great idea. It shows sincerity. Go for it!

That sounds absolutely adorable!

Do it! I think its shows your young love and devotion to them.

I think, if I were her parents, I'd be glad she had a faithful guy.

That's sweet, I would do it.

Good Luck!

I think this is a really cute idea. Your girlfriend would probably be really touched. Maybe she could help you pick out the ring if you feel odd about buying it for yourself. If you didn't want to do a ring maybe you could get a watch engraved?

ask her if she thinks its a good idea, it doesnt matter really if a guy buys a ring, but i dont know if i would get any kind of jewel really, just get something like the one from lord of the rings (im not a geek, im just making a comparison) just engrave her name on it.
