Question - (7 June 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 10 June 2010)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i am very much in love with a girl and i would really like to marry her one day. but for now, we are just "friends" if you could call it that. its a very one-sided friendship with me making the effort to keep it going and her not really caring. if i do try to live my own life and, for example, not text her or talk to her, she gets mad at me. what should i do? i want to stay friends with her, but i dont want to be in pain all the time...

LottieCole agony auntDear Anon,

my question to you is why would you want to be friends with someone who barely passes as a friend let alone consider the idea of marriage? As this is not a relationship i can not advise in this context but she appears to be a selfish friend at the very least. You need to focus on letting go of 'friendships' that only hurt you as this will allow you to find a girl who truly wants to be with you and have a relationship. Relationships are based on give and take and both parties are together as one making each other happy.

I hope you find the strength to move on and be happy.

Wishing you well

Lottie x
