A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

there's this guy I've known since I was really little. We're best friends. He even lives just across the street from me! See, my problem is that he's a little less than a year younger than

me. But he's 2 grades below me! I think he likes me... ALOT. I think he tries to flirt with me... But he's not too sure how. He's always wanting to sit next to me, talk to me, an hang out with me whenever he can. He always tries to hold my hand or touch my hand or arm. I think I actually like him. I dont know. If we went out, I can't imagine what my friends would say! I dont know what to do!! If he doesn't like me and I tell him that I like him, it could ruin our friendship. PLEASE HELP ME!

You don't really have to risk saying anything to him - next time he tries to hold your hand while hanging out let him. Give him a bit of encouragement, like a nice smile, to let him know that you like him holding your hand and I'm sure he will say something to you. Relationships don't have to start with a big confession of feelings and someone asking someone out - sometimes they just develop and happen naturally.

As for your friends, who cares what they think? If you don't like this boy enough to stand up for him and your feelings to your friends then maybe you shouldn't be thinking about going out with him at all!
