We were friends, but my stupid social anxiety and awkwardness is getting in the way of me talking to him, or anyone else for that matter. I would settle for just friends...I just miss him so much and no matter what I do I can't forget about him. Dropping out of school was such a big mistake. I miss everyone so much.

Try going to some graduation parties that he might be at and start a conversation there. You will never know if you don't try. Facebook is also a plus in situations like these. See if you can find him on there.
If you are having set backs about dropping out, it's never too late to pick things back up. Easier younger than older though, if this is a possibility in your case.
Good Luck, just try to relax and talk to him before he leaves

Try to hang out in a group of people. If there are any parties that you're whole year have been to then you can talk about the crazy stuff that happened, or talk about a teacher. Anything small to get a conversation started.
Just bite the bullet, I was ridiculously shy for years and sometimes I still am, so I know how difficult it can be, but sometimes going for it is the best thing to do.
good luck

well for that guy, if u really love him, its the time or never...one technique is to rehearse, rehearse and rehearse in front of the mirror.I still remember the first time i propose a girl, spent two hours rehearsing and the best thing is that it went as expected, my confidence was worth the pain. now its a common thing for me!
