Be a music major!! You will only improve your craft and get challenged. You can also network and meet a lot of people who can help you on your way to being a musician. Show business is tricky to get into, but college can really help speed up the process. Your teachers have hookups, as do other people you will meet.
I promise, college will TOTALLY help with your musical career.

Well can you not do music studies in college? This could combine your passion for music and your parents want for you to go college.
You should still be able to play in your band and you will have A Levels. College is only 2 years and you dont spend as much time in lessons as you did in Years 7 to 11. So you will have alot of free time.
Compromise with your parents, tell them your dreams and how you wanna acomplish them. If they know your plan they should let you forge your life on your own

How about go to college for a couple of years and if your still interested then persue a music career?Or study music at college - it keeps both parties happy that way, also helping you with your knowledge of the mucis industry for future. Hopw all works out well for you x

I think your parents are probably just worried that you will throw away your education with the dream of being a famous musician and even really good bands can spend years tryiong to make it to the big time and not get anywhere. You could always compromise with your parents. Say go to college during the day and play in the evenings. Or perhaps speak to them about taking time off of your education with the promise that you will go back to it (say in a year or two) if the band is not going well. Good luck
