A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have a really frustrating problem at work which I need advice on. I seem to be the only one in my office who has paracetamol for headaches, colds, pain etc.... So my colleauges instead of buying themselves any come and scrounge off me!

I don't normally mind giving people a couple of tablets but it takes the mick when I'm asked every week! I even started lying now saying I don't have any on me.

What's more frustrating is when I was away last week 1 of my colleagues decided to go in to my drawer at work and take 2 pills! She apologised when I got back but none the less age gas no right going in to my personal space. The funny thing is they always say- "oh next time I buy some I'll replace the 2/4 I took" but they never do!

Anyone else had to deal with people like this and am I being unfair by lying-after all it's my money I'm using to buy them with!

DrPsych agony auntI can see why you feel taken advantage of. I think you have to stop being Florence Nightingale of the office and keep your pain-relief in your bag. Quite apart from the question of being taken advantage of, it is never recommended to give other people your medication (even if it is just something you buy at the chemist). If they had a bad reaction to your pills then you might be a legal hot water (compensation culture and all that). You could even use that as an excuse for not providing the service anymore! My husband's workplace has a policy where colleagues are banned from giving each other medicine and they have to see the occupational nurse even for an aspirin. If you need to take a lot of pain-relief medication it is time to see a doctor - the occasional headache is ok, but if you are using them often then it could mean you have a medical issue that needs looking at.

Laura1318 agony auntYour friends in the office are lowlife creatures...LOL! Don't store those pills in your drawers. Keep them inside your bag.

Or you can start doing a part time business at your office. Sell the pills to them. No money no pills... it's business from now onwards.

Are you sure we don't work in the same office?? Lol!

I have the same problem& it's usually because people are to lazy or stingy to buy their own! You won't ever get yourbpills replaced. Just keep saying j have none& they might take the hint!

I think it was out of order that she went in to your desk without your permission. A guy where I work got in trouble for routing around his colleagues desk!

Take care x

Seriously? Perhaps there are more major things to worry about. Sorry but I think that giving out pills is not really being taken advantage of. They know you always have ...so they ask you!
