She has always been a tomboy all the way through her childhood and only ever wore a dress once when she was a bridesmaid. We'd always been dead good mates, but after a family do, we went out clubbing as we usually do (coming from the same town and being mates). After a copious amount of alcohol we went back to my student digs and one thing led to another and we ended up kissing and after a lot of foreplay we ended up finally doing the deed.In the morning obviously we were both a bit weird with each other, and agreed we should never mention it again. But now at family dos we keep getting close and want to have a relationship. Is this such a problem as we live away from out parents? (so its not like the family would know?)

You can't change what you've already done, but going forward you need to exercise self control. If you're too weak, then don't put yourself in tricky situations. Also, have you ever noticed how many of these stories start off with "after ...alcohol..." Self control gets compromised right off the bat.

Legally, it depends where you live.
Some places have laws that forbid first cousins (I assume that is what you mean) from getting married, and other places, it is legal and you can even have children.
Before you get serious or get with each other again, remember that if the relationship does not work out, you will still have to see her at every family do, wedding, funeral, etc...
Unless you are not serious about each other, do not move ahead with this.
But first things first. Find out if it is legal in your area.

Whether it is a problem really depends on what type of cousins you are, like first, second and so on. I do beleive that where you live it is a criminal offence to be sexually active with your first cousin but after that the second and thirds are legal. Also legally you can't marry your first cousin and no matter what the family will probably have a problem with it.
If none of this is a problem then although I do not reccomend it you have to do what makes you two happy. Make sure to give this alot of thought and consider all the factors involved in even something as small as a simple relationship.
