Just make sure you have something to eat with you at all time that is healthy. Chopped carrots, fruit salads, celery, sounds boring but it really is just the comfort action of eating you need, not the food itself.

As well as that the key thing is EXERCISE. You don't have to join a gym, or go off running in the snow, just go down to the pool one morning before work and then have a big bowl of cereal or porrage to fill you up after.

As I say, your body has got used to you having something in your hands to nibble on and your stomach may have stretched out so it will be harder to feel full.

Make sure you have something good for you to nom on and really try to think before you put something in your mouth... do I NEED to eat this?

As soon as you start doing some gentle exercise (even walking your neighbour's dog) you will start to feel a difference. Eventually you'll be able to kick the food habit as your brain has just got addicted to nibbling to replace the nicotine. Try and cut down on between meal snacks but have something healthy there for emergencies.

Good Luck!! xx

Artistry agony auntHi there, I understand this happens with an awful lot of people. The eating is a substitute for the smoking, as you well know, and also comes with a price. If you are flirting with diabetes, get Cinnamon capsules from any health food store. Also start to drink very strong Green Tea, good for weight loss. Increase you intake of water on a daily basis, work up to eight glasses a day, put lemon in it if you need to. There is something called DGL, chewable licorice extract, which is at the health food store as well. Puritan's Pride is a vitamin catalogue company which sells through the mail, buy one get one free, their number is 1-800-645-1030. The DGL helps to extract the nicotine that may still be in your body. Your body is going to have to re-adjust and I am sure it will take time. Find some gum to chew instead of eating, and if you have a craving, carry around some carrots, cut in strips. Lastly search for a new hobby, so that you get so involved you forget about eating sometimes :o). Take care and keep fighting to lose the weight, if you do, the diabetes will stay at bay. Don't buy new clothes to accomodate the weight gain, that only encourages you to keep the weight on. Stay in touch and let us know when you have lost the extra stones, don't get

discouraged. p.s. I also agree with the other Aunt, that you should check with the doctor about the possiblity of asthma, but I think it is the extra weight that is causing the breathing problems, been there done that. Take care always.

LilPixie agony auntim not expert on this... id suggest that when you feel like eating to grab some fruit rather than fatty foods/snacks.

if your having problems breathing when you do just the smallest thing, maybe your showing signs of asthma!? id deff get that checked by your doctor. i wouldnt recommend doing heavy exercises, but possibly just going for short walks during the day may help? like with anything else just take things slowly.

thats all i can say for now but ill be happy to try and help more if you theres anything else you want to ask...

hope this is of some help to you

good luck xx
