A scrapbook of pictures of the both of you would be really nice, maybe include show tickets and things of that sort.
Or for something personal make a necklace or bracelet.
You can also buy teddy bears and record a message to be put inside them which is pretty sweet if a little scary. (The Bear shop)
I'm sure she'll be happy that you care so much.

Hmm, some ideas. Can you paint or draw? Even a little bit? You could go to a pottery studio and paint glaze onto a mug or plate with her name and some flowers or something else really cheerful.
My mother paints lovely cards and pictures and gives those as gifts. She takes some of them and has them turned into greeting cards with envelopes, much appreciated gifts those are.
You could buy some artificial flowers and create a floral arrangement in a pretty little vase, with a ribbon tied around it.
If you can needlepoint, you could make a little glasses case for her, or a small wallet for her bag.
Another idea is to decoupage a keepsake box for her. You can buy decoupage glue and a box in a craft shop, and cut out pretty pictures from magazines or paint your own.
A homemade friendship bracelet with lovely beads. A picture frame made with glued on trinkets and shells and thing that mean something to both of you, with a picture of the two of you together in it.
I'd wander through a craft shop and look at all the things you can make, there are literally thousands of ideas there.
You sound like a good friend, I hope your friend feels better soon.

It means a hell of a lot to me whenever i lookm at it and shows the effort that he went to to ask all my friends for pictures and the hours spent with the decorations and drawings
