I also thought I sufferd from PMS until my dr. diagnosed it as " PMDD " a pre menstrual disorder - please google it - tell your concerns to your doctor so you can be properly treated and medicated, it makes a big difference! Also besides taking medication I improved my diet and started exercising...Good luck to you!

well what are you doing so far?
avoid sugar
avoid caffeine
up your vitamin B and E all month
what else did my doctor recommend... hmmm can't recall.
things may have changed so perhaps it would be best to talk to your GYN about it.

You can go on the pill, that is often prescribed for bad PMS as well as bad cramps. My bf can tell when I'm going to get my period before I can because I get so much crankier. Unfortunately other than changing your hormones (like with the pill) not sure there's any better advice than to avoid people who make you angry.
Eating helps, people in general are crankier when they are hungry.

I too have terrible, awful PMS. I try to keep away from colas and aerated drinks as a rule because they're poison for the body. What else...lets see...drink lots of water, do some exercise, have foods rich in calcium, and most importantly stay away from people who piss you off. There are some people whom I can barely tolerate on regular days but if I so much even glance at them during my PMS phase, they've had it!!

I am not keen on medication therefore opt to watch my diet so my mood swings are in control.

Well, I have some killer PMS but not as sever as yours, what I do know helps (for me at least)
DO NO NOT skip meals. Even if you feel crappy/not hungry - eat 3 good meals and a couple of snack, up your water intake (not soda/coffee).
Vitamin B (B6) can help too but I would increase the intake of FOOD containing B6 instead of taking vitamin supplements - you absorb it better from foods. So chicken/turkey (if you want to go lighter on protein/fat) and beef contain B6 as well as salmon, cod and a few other fish, green veggies - green bell-pepper, spinach, asparagus, green peas to name a few.
For snacks Peanuts, sunflower seeds, cashews and hazelnuts all contain B6 as well, however don't get the salted over processed nuts.
Switch to wholegrain.
Exercise, fresh air and natural sunlight. Can also make a difference.
BUT with all that said, consult your doctor it IS possible to "overdo" vitamins and that is not healthy for your body.
Also starting some yoga might help you.

Yes, contact your doctor. There are several things for you to do, but you need to see your doctor first and receive help from him/her. If you want to change your diet you should consult with a doctor. You might want to try hormones, which also needs to go through your doctor.

I get very anxious and snappy a few days before my period, but since trying chamomile tea and yoga, it sought of calms me down and reduces the symptoms. Maybe you could try that out.
