Question - (15 January 2009) 5 Answers - (Newest, 16 January 2009)
A female Finland age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Might be a superficial question but I'm very down about myself these days. It's because of the way I look and how I think this makes people treat me differently, earlier this week I decided I wanted a change, and I wanted to dye my hair dark instead of the blonde it has been forever.

But I'm afraid. I once heard blonde makes you "less ugly" as in the lighting or something, but I do want a change, I'm just afraid that if I go dark I will hate it and feel worse...

I have a pretty large nose and small chin, I look like I'm going to tip over because my profile is so strange... What do you think looks nicer, blonde or brown hair on a girl with a prominant nose and weak jawline..... very weak... I feel so vain talking about this but I just get so down and depressed about myself, I want some opinions.... I don't have friends to ask.

You can color and change your hair, nowadays even your face, but my love that wont make you feel better, it might for a little while, but the dye will washout and your hair will grow and behind that its still gona be that girl who feels alone and feels like she has an ugly nose, you need to understand that not everyone will think you are sexy and hot, not everyone will think you are a cool person to be around, but you cant let all this control you, otherwise you will always look for acceptance from others you need to accept yourself, and its hard, its hard to love yourself if all the faults are staring you right in the face, but they arnt faults, they are you that’s what makes you a unique human, take a look at Paris Hilton, look at her nose, and her bony face and he doesn’t even have tits like most of the other “famous” girls but all over the world men are falling over their feet for her. Not everyone likes her (including me, I like girls 2 and Christina must be my fantasy girl) not everyone thinks shes hot, its cause every person is unique with a unique look and taste, and you have to accept that dear, coz if you don’t you will just make yourself believe that you are not good enough for anyone, and you will start withdrawing yourself for m the world, people will only treat you as bad as you allow them to remember that, love yourself you are unique,

Oh and that website the hairstyler is great you can see yourself with all these different looks, and at least you wont mess it up by going to dark, oh and what you heard bout blond making you prettier that’s bull dear, what makes you prettier is what you are pouring from your soul, so if you walk around with a pretty smile and be positive about yourself and life you are already much prettier than any FHM model.

Fee-Fee agony auntOh I'd kill for a prominant nose ... mine is like a little button mushroom, and it just makes my face look ... squishy :o) But I've learned to accept it for what it is, and make sure I accent the parts of my face I believe to be pretty.

Every face is different, that's what makes us special!

Why don't you try a non-permanent hair dye and see what you think? One of the ones that washes out really quickly, just in case you don't like it?

Or book yourself in to a hairdressers for a colour consultation and see what they suggest?

Stayc63088 agony auntIt's not the color that makes a difference in facial structure, it's the cut. You should look up online different cuts for your face type. For instance, I have a heart shaped face, or diamond face, and I cannot wear my hair all one length and flat. It makes my face look longer. So I have it layered around my face. I think the color depends on your skin type. Like if you were really pale I wouldn't reccomend a very dark color. How dark are you trying to go? My natural color is light brown. I've dyed it dark dark brown and have had it blonde as well. The best part is that even if you hate it, it won't last forver :) If I were you I wouldn't go too drastically dark. Maybe a light brown or average brown with some light brown highlights. I definitely reccomend highlights btw, it's much better than one flat color when going for a change. If you want you can write back or email me your face shape and we can talk about hair cuts that could work for you. And don't worry about being superficial, there is no problem with changing how you look. Hope I helped you out.
